The ISAC GAW-WMO Regional Coastal Observatory has been operative at Lamezia Terme since 2014. Here, trace gases and aerosols are daily monitored collecting relevant data for climate and air quality studies. The site, central to the Mediterranean area at the end of a valley WEST-EAST oriented, allows detecting air masses transporting natural and anthropic sources. The site is periodically interested by saharian dust transport. During dry periods (summer) some fire events occur. Here, we describe some episodes with quantitative evidence of aerosols (PM10 and PM2.5 collected on filters). Filter observation, using SEM technology, give evidence of size and chemical indication of aerosols.
