Solution of the quasi-linear Fokker-Planck equation in the presence of a quasi-longitudinal wave as the mode converted IBW, is obtained in a 2D (velocity space) by using a finite difference approach instead of the usual expansion in a Legendre polynomial for the pitch angle variable. Comparison of the collisional operator in the full numerical and Legendre expanded case is given when the quasi-linear term is kept to zero and the $\alpha$-particle distribution is a slowing-down.
