Neutron detection is important in research, industry and medicine. It is typically based on a conversion reaction in which neutrons interact with a nucleus to produce secondary charged particles, which are detected. We present the first results of the BoLAS experiment funded by the V Scientific Commission of INFN. The experiment aims at the deposition of 10B-based neutron-conversion thin films deposited by Pulsed Laser Deposition on different flexible substrates. We report on the first results concerning the definition of proper parameters for the deposition of 10B films which are characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, Raman, AFM and IBA.
