In the next generation of satellites for the study of high-energy cosmic radiation, plastic scintillator detectors (PSD) will be segmented in tiles or bars and coupled to silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) as anticoincidence system for gamma-rays detection and for charged nuclei identification. Here we report on beam test campaigns performed at CERN PS and SPS with different beam composition and different tile-like geometries to study the scintillator response with a SiPM-based readout in order to reach the best performance of the detectors.
