The solution of the Energy Transport Equation (ETE, Boltzmann) perfectly describes the Energy Envelopes for seismic coda waves, allowing the estimation of their Sensitivity Kernels. These functions represent the probability that scattering phenomena occur in a given point of the propagation volume, and can be thus used to obtain an image of the propagation properties of the Earth. We developed a numerical method to fast calculate the Sensitivity Kernels in case of shallow source and receiver, and applied it to obtain a seismic attenuation image of several volcanic zones. Results show their usefulness in complementing conventional (travel time) tomography images to improve the knowledge of the inner structures of active volcanoes.
