The primary aim of the QUAX experiment (currently in the final stage of its R&D phase) is the development of an axion detector exploiting the interaction of axions with magnetized media. However, the developed apparatus is also sensitive to signals generated via the axion-photon interaction. In this presentation I will report on the results obtained during a training run in this configuration performed in summer of 2018. Further detail will be given on the innovative approaches employed in the course of this measurement, and on the projected enhancements of the detector our collaboration is currently working on.
