We report on the timing analysis of a sample of interesting cataclysmic variables observed by the XMM-Newton satellite. In particular, data from DW Cns clearly allows us to classify the source as an intermediate polar with periods at 26, 38 and 75 minutes and to pinpoint signatures of a local absorption due the infalling material. For DP Leo, the existence of a third body (possibly a Jupiter like planet) orbiting the system is confirmed since a modulation in the X-ray eclipses is observed as expected from sinusoidal ephemeris.
