In 2019 the Italian Physical Society and the SoNS (School of Neutron Scattering ``Francesco Paolo Ricci'' Association) jointly commissioned a report concerning a strategy for neutron facilities in geographical Europe. The review panel, chaired by Prof. Piero Baglioni, analyzed how current reactor and spallation facilities, mainly ILL and ISIS, are used by Italian researchers and, more important, explored certain options for the future. In fact, the next decade will see a significant change in the neutron landscape, as a number of older sources will reach the end of their operational life. Thus, it was critical to look at opportunities and risks that each of the options presents. The present Round Table aims at offering the physicists' community a possibility of debating on the report findings and on the future Italian role in neutron and muon science and applications.
