The fine structure of Field-Aligned Currents (FACs) in the high latitude ionospheric space plasmas is studied using Swarm Level-2 (L2-FAC) single-spacecraft product obtained considering the Swarm A satellite. In particular, we investigate the statistical and scaling features of the FAC at the highest available resolution, comparing the results with the character of magnetic-field fluctuations. The topological nature of FACs in a quasi--force-free configuration and the occurrence of current filamentation are discussed in relationship to the non-Gaussian character of current fluctuations.
