Since its launch, CSES (China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite) has joined the stream of satellite missions dedicated to the monitoring of electromagnetic, plasma and particle environments around the Earth, with special focus on possible correlations between electromagnetic emissions induced by seismic/volcanic activity and perturbations of the magnetosphere/ionosphere. After one year since the end of the commissioning phase, CSES has already repaid the effort, returning precious information about variations in the Earth/Sun interaction during geomagnetic-storm transients. Here, we present the state of the art as to the mission, and an outlook of Phase II, CSES/02, which has just kicked off.
