The recent detection of gravitational waves by LIGO and Virgo opened the era of gravitational astronomy. The observation of gravitational waves from coalescing binaries allows one to explore the strong-field regime of general relativity, which is not directly accessible in the laboratory. In this talk, I will review some of the results in the context of fundamental gravitational physics obtained by the LIGO/Virgo collaborations from merging binary black hole systems.
